I visited Teotihuacan, climbed the pyramids, took a bus down to Oaxaca and Guatemala, and crossed back into Mexico on a canoe… Strangers helped me find my way, offered me shelter, friendship and advice. I never felt unsafe although I didn’t speak much Spanish, and must have looked lost most of the time. I traveled for two weeks on my own and fell in love with Mexico.
